Most Instagrammable spots in Edinburgh

Edinburgh is one of my favourite cities of the world. Rich in history, brimming with culture and architecture that will blow your mind, here’s some of the most Instagrammable spots to add to your Edinburgh bucket list...

1. Cockburn Street

A curved and charming cobbled street surrounded with tall buildings that make you feel you’ve been transported back to medieval times. Grab yourself a coffee from The Milkman ready for your day of photography.

2. Advocates Close

A steep and narrow ancient alleyway leading from Cockburn Street up to the Royal Mile with views overlooking the Scott Monument. You’ll find the popular Devil’s Advocate Bar and Restaurant hidden here.

3. Victoria Street

The street that made me fall in love with the city. A beautifully curved cobbled street full of colour and lined with adorable independent and quirky shops. Said to be the inspirations for Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley it’s no wonder this is one of the most photographed streets of the city.

4. The Vennel

One of the best viewpoints of Edinburgh Castle. The Vennel is a stairway inside a beautiful alleyway that connects Grassmarket with Heriot Place. Not many know about this city gem so it’s easy to get a photo with no-one in shot!

5. Circus Lane

Circus Lane is one of Edinburgh’s finest mews. In case you’re wondering, a mews is British term for a row of houses that were originally built as stable and coach houses. Every house on the cobbled street was perfectly bedecked with potted plants and greenery. Can you imagine living here?

6. Calton Hill

An iconic spot in Edinburgh offering the best views over the city. Go early to avoid the crowds and to catch one of the most epic sunrises of your lifetime. The two most picturesque spots on the hill include the Dugald Stewart Monument with the city view in the background and the National Monument of Scotland.

7. Dean Village

A fairytale-like village northwest of the city centre that nestles alongside the Water of Leith. The village is charming, quiet and beyond picturesque making it a perfect spot to take some photos to revitalise your feed. It’s about a 20 minute walk from New Town and well worth your time.
