Review of No. 15 Bath by GuestHouse: The Best Dog-Friendly Luxury Hotel in Bath

Would you believe me if I told you Moose and I have uncovered the best dog-friendly hotel in Bath? Set along one of the city’s most iconic streets, No. 15 Bath by GuestHouse is a boutique spa hotel that brings together luxury, charm, and a genuine passion for welcoming guests of all kinds (furry friends included). And, Moose and I were lucky enough to experience it first-hand.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear that No. 15 Bath isn’t just another hotel – it’s a thoughtfully designed experience that reflects the elegance and creativity of the city itself. Keep reading to find out exactly why No. 15 Bath is the ultimate dog-friendly retreat…

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Arriving at No. 15 Bath, I was immediately taken by its elegant Georgian façade, exuding timeless charm. And stepping inside this townhouse felt like opening Pandora’s box – what awaited was far more than I expected. The interior is an extraordinary fusion of historical grandeur and contemporary flair: whimsical art pieces, eclectic furnishings, and a striking use of bold colours. Every corner has been meticulously designed, and I couldn’t help but marvel at the attention to detail. If the reception area was this impressive, I couldn’t wait to see the rest of the hotel.

The team at check-in were warm and welcoming – their smiles growing even bigger when they spotted Moose and his excited wagging tail. It’s always a joy when a hotel makes you feel like family, and seeing how they treated my dog with such care made me feel even more at home. After receiving our golden key – feeling very much like Charlie in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with a golden ticket, Moose and I made our way to our room on the 2nd floor. Conveniently, this was also where the 24/7 complimentary guest pantry was located. But more on that later!

OUR ROOM

No. 15 Bath boasts 36 rooms, spread across the main townhouse and its Coach House. What sets them apart is that no two rooms are alike – each one brims with playful British character and authentic Georgian elegance. As we opened the door to our room – brace yourself for another TV reference – it felt like stepping onto the set of Bridgerton.

We stayed in one of their larger guest rooms, and true to the hotel’s description, it was “as remarkable as it was comfortable.” Designed by Martin Hulbert, the room was a masterpiece of modern and vintage influences. The king-sized bed was framed by an illustrated backdrop, and the raw plaster borders, carefully chosen furniture and quirky curios combined contemporary style with timeless Georgian grace. Our room also featured a cosy sitting area with a vintage-style record player, and our very own dollhouse, with a secret coffee station hidden inside. And just beyond the bedroom, our bathroom exuded sophistication, complete with an iconic roll-top bath and a separate walk-in shower.

Honestly, it was hard to decide what to do first: sink into the soft Egyptian cotton sheets for a nap, enjoy a bubble bath in the iconic roll-top bath, or throw an impromptu dance party with Moose to a vintage record. Every detail has been carefully thought through – from the indulgent bath products to the welcome treats for Moose. The large windows framed a beautiful view of one of the street below, and the room was equipped with all the high-end amenities you’d expect from a luxury boutique hotel, with a few extra personal touches that made it feel like home. It was the kind of room that invited you to slow down, soak it all in, and savour every moment of the stay.

FOOD AND DRINK

Downstairs, The Bar at No. 15 Bath is a place where dogs are just as welcome as their humans. The bar serves its menu daily from 12:30pm to 9pm, and like the rest of the hotel, it’s a light, airy space with a playful, pastel-coloured charm. Again, the attention to detail is evident everywhere, from the tables that showcase vintage jewellery to the unique accents like the scalloped leather wall behind the bar. It’s the kind of place you can’t help but want to linger in.

The menu strikes the perfect balance between innovation and comfort, with a focus on locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. I started with a Burnt Orange, Candied Walnuts, and Sheep’s Cheese Salad followed by the Sweet Potato, Chickpea, and Coconut Curry, served with roti, green chutney, and pickled onions. Of course, no dinner experience would be complete without a cocktail. Normally I’d go for dessert, but with the 24/7 pantry available, a little voice in my head kept reminding me that snacks were waiting.

The complementary pantry… Now this isn’t something I’ve seen done before and was certainly one of the standout features of the hotel. Available to all guests, at all hours of the day, the pantry is stocked with a tempting selection of snacks, sweets, homemade treats, fresh fruit, cold drinks, popcorn, and even ice cream. It felt like having a mini-luxury kitchen at our disposal. It was a wonderful touch that allowed us to grab a late-night treat, an early morning pick-me-up or an afternoon bite without ever having to leave the hotel.

Breakfast was equally delightful, and even more so since we enjoyed it in bed! I had pre-selected my breakfast the night before, and it arrived right on time, with everything freshly prepared by the chefs. From fresh pastries and fruit to yogurt, hot cooked options, and delicious coffee, it was the kind of breakfast that made waking up early completely worth it – breakfast is and forever will be my favourite meal of the day and GuestHouse knew how to deliver.

LOCATION

No. 15 Bath couldn’t be better situated. Located right in the heart of the city, it offers easy access to all the sights and sounds Bath has to offer, including iconic landmarks like the Roman Baths, Bath Abbey, and the picturesque Pulteney Bridge. You can easily wander down and lose yourself among the cobbled streets, soaking in the historic charm of this UNESCO World Heritage city, with shops, cafes, galleries and parks (Moose’s favourite) around every corner.

MOOSE AND HIS STAY

I can safely say Moose was as comfortable at No. 15 as I was – if not more! In our room, there was a plush dog bed waiting for him, along with food and water bowls, and even a welcome packet with treats and a toy. It’s clear GuestHouse considers the comfort of their canine guests as much as their human ones. In fact, dogs can stay in any of the rooms (other than the Small Guest Rooms), which is rare for such a luxury hotel.

The team also provided a dog-friendly guide, which was a nice touch. It included a list of local dog-friendly activities, hotspots, and parks – perfect for keeping Moose entertained. They even mentioned a few services available for us pet parents, should we want a little “me time.” It’s not every day you find a hotel that understands the balance between catering to your needs and making sure your pet has an equally great experience.

Moose felt like a VIP guest. His tail was wagging nonstop the entire stay. Every time we ventured out for walks or for a drink at The Bar, Moose was greeted warmly by the staff, and it was clear that they genuinely love dogs. GuestHouse really does go the extra mile for their canine guests, taking pride in making both humans and pets feel equally at home.

Moose and I are both in agreement – No. 15 Bath by GuestHouse is undoubtedly the best dog-friendly hotel we’ve discovered in the city. From the moment we stepped inside, we were treated like family, and the thoughtfulness and care for both human and canine guests are unmatched. The luxurious setting, the whimsical décor, the impeccable service, and the genuinely warm welcome for Moose made this stay truly unforgettable. It’s the kind of place where you can relax, indulge, and feel at home.

But No. 15 Bath is just the beginning. As part of the GuestHouse Hotels collection, No. 15 Bath is one of four stunning properties in the UK. Founded by brothers Tristan, James, and Tom Guest, this independent group is known for creating unique, wonder-filled hotels. While Bath is where it all began, there’s plenty more to discover at No. 1 York, No. 42 Margate, and the newly opened No. 124 Brighton (which opened in November 2024). After experiencing the magic of No. 15, the only question on our mind is: which GuestHouse should we explore next? With such a fantastic, pet-friendly approach to hospitality, I’m already planning our next adventure – where Moose and I will no doubt be treated just as royally.
